Been pondering late stage capitalism lately. But does America even have capitalism anymore? Under capitalism, companies compete by improving their products and services while lowering costs to remain competitive. What we have in America now is a handful of multinationals buying up all their competition so the consumers have no choice but to purchase from them─there is no competition anymore. We just have a collection of monopolies. Products and services degrade as a result, while prices increase for the consumer so the executives can make a larger profit for themselves.
We need to make it illegal for any entity to own more than one business or company. These corporations shouldn't be allowed to diversify the way they do. The consumer suffers because of it. If only we had a government of the people, by the people and for the people, that looks out for the flipping people... (ง︡'-'︠)ง

March 6th, 2026 10:45 pm (UTC)And now we're in this weird era where customer and product are almost completely irrelevant in some areas—obscene amounts of money are being made and moved around based solely on venture capital. (Which is getting over my head, but I still find it fascinating to see more informed people break down stuff like that.)
