December 1st, 2025 01:05 pmOmg how embarrassing! I totally forgot to update my progress this month because I was too busy doing the challenge. Anyway I won, so yay!

I also forgot to join Novel November at ProWritingAid like I'd planned, although I could get the jump on next year by joining right now while I'm thinking of it, but I'm just too lazy at the moment.
I think there were some other NaNo imposters this year as well, but somehow it's just not the same as the real NaNo. The things I liked best about NaNo were the things no one else offers: a profile listing favorite books and authors, buddy lists so you can see who you're ahead of and who you're behind, stats, badges, book covers, excerpts, forums. I sure wish Chris Baty would return and start a whole new NaNo site, even if it had a totally different name. But of course, how would he make money this time? The donations model obviously fails since most writers are dirt poor like me. ( -.-)\(^◡^ )
Likewise, everyone's complaining about how much advertising there is on the internet now, so people are abandoning social media right and left just like I did months ago. The new NaNo site would have to offer some kind of product or services people would gladly pay for, like publishing books, offering professional editors, book promotion and distribution, etc. They'd have to become a mini publishing house for self-published writers, and who wants to do that these days? (♯^.^ღ)
