Writing tip #12:

When readers complain that they liked your story until just before the end, when you used the word mansplain.

Mansplaining has no synonym, so you have to use that word if that's what's actually happening in your book. So use it! Don't worry about the readers. Mansplaining is a very particular type of condescension a man does solely to women due to his belief that women can't grasp it otherwise. Men never mansplain to other men, and only a man who is sexist can mansplain. There is no other word you can use for that. There is no other kind of explaining that masquerades as mansplaining; no other type of explanation that can be confused with it. A woman knows when she's been mansplained to. If your book has a man doing that, then mansplaining is what it's called, and any reader who gets offended will just have to suck it up. ( -.-)\(^◡^ )
