Thinking about pen names and whether I should publish my next book under a new name. I think I want to put some distance between myself and my previous books, and make all my book covers match from now on, sort of like Neil Gaiman's watercolors. It's so hard to come up with cover ideas for general fiction.

But then I remember all my future books will sound like the early ones, for I put my personal truth in all of them. And I hate to just cut them loose into the world and hope they do well on their own. It's a big ugly world out there.

Maybe a mononym's the answer? Just cut off my last name since no one can pronounce it anyhow. It was the name of a famous death camp; if they can't pronounce it by now, just what were they learning in school? I guess they weren't learning about that or they wouldn't keep using the same poor judgment in the present.

Yes, a mononym might do the trick, and it'll reduce the amount of text on the cover. I hate how most covers today are spoiled by too much text. Now I have to figure out where my watercolors are...
